(Stratus) has
prepared this report presenting the results of the fourth quarter 2001 groundwater
monitoring event conducted at USA Station 65, located at 2500 West Lodi Avenue, Lodi,
California (Figure 1). Information regarding the operation of a soil vapor extraction
system(SVES) is also included in this report.
BACKGROUND
The majority of information provided in this section was gathered from a Remedial
Action Plan (RAP) prepared by Pinnacle Environmental Solutions, Inc. (Pinnacle), a
division of EMCON, dated January 26, 1999. A limited site investigation completed in
March 1987 detected petroleum hydrocarbons in soil and groundwater beneath the site.
The investigation included the drilling and sampling of four soil borings, two of which
were completed as groundwater monitoring wells (S-1 and S-2). In August 1987, three
additional groundwater monitoring wells were installed (MW-1, MW-2, and MW-3).
Additional monitoring wells (MW-4, MW-5, MW-6, MW-7, and MW-8) were installed
to assess the lateral extent of petroleum hydrocarbon impact to groundwater. Figure 2
presents the location of the monitoring wells.
Three gasoline underground storage tanks (USTs) and associated piping were removed
and replaced on October 6 and 7, 1987. Approximately 500 cubic yards of hydrocarbon-
impacted soil were over-excavated and removed from the site during these remediation
activities.
Pinnacle prepared and submitted a RAP in January 1999. The RAP recommended the
construction, installation, and operation of a soil vapor extraction and air sparge system
to mitigate the petroleum hydrocarbon impact to soil and groundwater.
s
P:IUSA Gasoline100651Qtrly120011USA-65-4Q01,doe
