Mr.Harlin Knoll February 28, 2002
3rd Quarter 2001 QMR Project No. 2007-0065-01
Page 4
for analysis. Certified analytical reports and chain-of-custody documentation for air
samples are included in Appendix C.
The SVES extracted approximately 171 pounds of TPHG during the fourth quarter 2001,
and a cumulative mass of 3260.18 pounds of TPHG since startup. The SVES is in
compliance with the SJVUAPCD. Due to low influent concentrations, Stratus shut down
the system on October 11, 2001, to allow re-charge in the subsurface. The system was
restarted on November 5, 2001, and the influent TPHG concentrations increased from
450 mg/m3 (October 1, 2001, sampling event) to 1,900 mg/m3 (November 5, 2001,
sampling event) during the pulsed operation of SVES.
Stratus will continue to operate and maintain the SVES on a pulse mode, with two weeks
of operation and two weeks of shutdown, to optimize the extraction rate during the first
quarter 2002.
CONCLUSIONS
Concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons and fuel oxygenates in groundwater are
. generally consistent with previous sampling events. Groundwater flow direction outside
of the radius of the SVES was toward the south-southeast at an average gradient of
0.0040 ft/ft. The SVES extracted approximately 171 pounds of TPHG during the fourth
quarter 2001.
STATEMENT OF LIMITATIONS
The services described in this report were performed consistent with generally accepted
professional consulting principals and practices.
