for a total of 2,124 hours and removed approximately 33.53 pounds of TPHG.
• SVE stem Operation and Maintenance
Although the SVE system was operated in pulse mode during the majority of the fourth quarter 2005, the
SVE system was operated on a full-time basis during the first quarter 2006 due to the detection of TPHG
(310 mg/m3) observed in sample collected on December 7, 2005. Because influent concentrations have
been close to or below laboratory reporting limits, SVE operation will be terminated.
Stratus conducted six site visits during the first quarter 2006 to verify system operation, collect compliance
discharge samples, and to conduct maintenance, if warranted. The SVE system was observed to be non-
operating during the site visit conducted on March 28, 2006, probably due to a power outage. Based on
the hour meter readings for March 6 and 28, 2006, the SVE system was likely shutdown on March 6,
2006. During the first quarter 2006, the SVE system has operated for approximate 1,350.3 hours. In the
influent air sample collected on January 5, 2006, TPHG was reported at 17 mg/m , toluene was reported
at 0.35 mg/m3, ethyl benzene was reported at 0.19 mg/m3, and total xylenes were reported at 1.23 mg/m3.
Petroleum hydrocarbons or fuel oxygenates were not reported in any of the influent and effluent air
samples collected during February and March 2006. The average influent airflow rate to the SVE system
was observed at 68.60 cfm at an average applied vacuum of 39.50 inches of water column. Figure 4
presents change in influent concentrations of TPHG and the cumulative TPHG mass removed as a result
of soil vapor extraction. As of March 1, 2006, a total of 4,137.73 pounds of TPHG has been removed from
the subsurface beneath the site. The SVE system is operating as designed and is in compliance with the
SJVAPCD permit requirements.
If the petroleum hydrocarbon concentrations in extracted soil vapors continue to be low, Stratus will
operate the SVE system in pulse mode.
ATTACHMENTS:
• • Table 1 Groundwater Elevation and Analytical Summary
• Table 2 Groundwater Analytical Results for Oxygenates
• Table 3 Operational Uptime and Flow Rate
• Table 4 Flow Rates and Analytical Results of Air Sample Analysis
• Table 5 Extraction and Emission Rates
• Figure 1 Site Location Map
• Figure 2 Groundwater Elevation Contour Map(First Quarter 2006)
• Figure 3 Groundwater Analytical Summary (First Quarter 2006)
• Figure 4 Cumulative Mass Removed and Concentrations of TPHG Vs Time
• Appendix A Field Data Sheets
• Appendix B Sampling and Analysis Procedures
• Appendix C Certified Analytical Reports and Chain-of-Custody Documentation
KAUSA Gasoline100651Qtrly120061USA_65_IQ06.DOC STRATUS
