i
SVE System Operation and Maintenance
. Due to low influent petroleum hydrocarbon concentrations in the extracted soil vapor stream during the
first quarter 2005, Stratus operated the SVE system in pulse mode beginning second quarter 2005.
Stratus conducted seven site visits during the fourth quarter 2005 to operate the system in pulse mode
and to collect compliance samples. During the fourth quarter 2005, the SVE system has operated for
approximately 1,445 hours. Petroleum hydrocarbons or fuel oxygenates were not reported in any of the
influent and effluent air samples collected during October and November 2005. TPHG was reported at
310 mg/m3 in the influent air sample collected on December 7, 2005. The average influent airflow rate to
the SVE system was observed at 76.59 cfm at an average applied vacuum of 22 inches of water column.
Figure 4 presents change in influent concentrations of TPHG and the cumulative TPHG mass removed as
a result of soil vapor extraction. As of December 7, 2005, a total of 4,110.46 pounds of TPHG has been
removed from the subsurface beneath the site. The SVE system is operating as designed and is in
compliance with the SJVAPCD permit requirements.
ATTACHMENTS:
• Table 1 Groundwater Elevation and Analytical Summary
• Table 2 Groundwater Analytical Results for Oxygenates
• Table 3 Operational Uptime and Flow Rate
• Table 4 Flow Rates and Analytical Results of Air Sample Analysis
• Table 5 Extraction and Emission Rates
• Figure 1 Site Location Map
• Figure 2 Groundwater Elevation Contour Map(Fourth Quarter 2005)
• Figure 3 Groundwater Analytical Summary (Fourth Quarter 2005)
• Figure 4 Cumulative Mass Removed and Concentrations of TPHG Vs Time
• Appendix A Field Data Sheets
• Appendix S Sampling and Analysis Procedures
• Appendix C Certified Analytical Reports and Chain-of-Custody Documentation
j
i
•
KAUSA Gasolincl0065%Qtr1y120051USA_65_4QOS.DOC STRATUS
