L. <br /> LREMEDIAL ACTION PLAN <br /> r USA STATION#65 - LODI <br /> NOVEMBER, 1995 <br /> f <br /> 5.3 Vapor Extraction Test Results <br /> R The initial results from vapor extraction testing activities revealed that all four wells tested (MW- <br /> 4,MW-8, S-1, and S-2) induced a vacuum response from adjacent wells. <br /> IL <br /> ° 5.4 Radius of Influence <br /> WEGE concluded that there would be a significant zone of influence from each of the tested <br /> f wells. The largest zone of influence was observed in MW-4 and MW-8. It appeared that the <br /> zone of influence from MW-8 was able to reach most of the site. S-1 and S-2 also had significant <br /> zones of influence. The estimated radiuses of influence as indicated by WEGE are shown on the <br /> figures taken from their April 17, 1995 report,which have been included in Appendix A. Field <br /> P <br /> data reporting the vacuum data is contained in WEGE report of April 17, 1995. <br /> f WEGE also concluded that it is likely that the larger zone of influence from MW-4 and MW-8 can <br /> be attributed to the higher permeability strata associated with the groundwater aquifer and/or a <br /> more permeable pathway that is only reached by the deeper wells. <br /> M r � <br /> 6.0 REMEDIAL ACTION ALTERNATIVES REVIEW <br /> Various remedial action technologies and processes used to mitigate hydrocarbon-affected soil <br /> 1 were reviewed. Such technologies and processes are broadly categorized as either in-situ or ex- <br /> situ based upon whether they are applied below or above ground. The choice of a specific <br /> remedial action alternative is based in part upon economics,present and future land use, geologic <br /> and hydrogeologic site characteristics, the results of VES well testing, the nature and distribution <br /> of chemical constituents, safety,convenience,and remediation goals to be attained. <br /> y <br /> Based upon prior experience at sites with similar geologic, hydrogeologic, and environmental <br /> concerns, three remedial action alternatives (RAAs) were selected for consideration as the <br /> recommended remedial approach for the site. These options are as follows: <br /> LOPTION I: Passive Soil Remediation; <br /> OPTION II: Soil Vapor Extraction With Off-Gas Treatment; and <br /> LOPTION III: Excavation With Off-Site Disposal. <br /> • A description of each RAA is provided below. <br /> L <br /> 5 <br />
