REMEDIAL ACTION PLAN
USA STATION#65 - LODI
NOVEMBER, 1995
8.0 CONFIRMATORY SOIL SAMPLING
Following the termination of vapor extraction activities, up to two soil borings will be drilled and
sampled within the site to assess the effect of vapor extraction in remediating hydrocarbon-
affected soil in the unsaturated and capillary fringe zones. The borings will be advanced to a total
depth of approximately 60-feet bgs and will be sampled at 5-foot intervals beginning at
approximately 20-feet bgs. Up to three samples from each boring will be submitted to the
laboratory for analysis. Samples selected for analysis will be from those zones where, based on
field observations, the highest TPH concentrations are likely to be present.
9.0 QUARTERLY GROUNDWATER SAMPLING AND ANALYSIS
Quarterly groundwater sampling and laboratory analysis activities will continue to be performed
for the eight on and off-site groundwater wells during the site remediation process.
Approximately three casing volumes of groundwater will be purged from the wells prior to
collection of the groundwater sample. Following purging activities, a clean Teflon bailer will be
used to collect a groundwater sample from each well. The groundwater samples will be decanted
from the bailer into three laboratory-supplied, 40-m1 VOA vials. The containers will be labeled,
Ethen placed in a chilled cooler in preparation for transport to the analytical laboratory. Strict
chain-of-custody(COC) protocol will be followed during sample handling.
All sampling equipment that comes into contact with groundwater from the well will be steam
cleaned and/or washed with Alconox and double rinsed with clean tap water.
Groundwater purged from each well during well purging and sampling activities will be recovered
and stored on-site in appropriately labeled, DOT approved 55-gallon drum. Disposition will be
the responsibility of the client
E
' Following the completion of remedial activities at the site, quarterly groundwater sampling
E activities will continue for two additional quarters to monitor changes, if any, in TPH and/or
BTEX concentrations. If sampling activities through the additional quarters are within the
allowable range for TPH and BTEX concentrations, a site closure request will be prepared and
submitted to the County and groundwater monitoring and sampling activities will be terminated.
Ea
10
i
}
