Groundwater Gradient: 0.002 ft/ft
SVE SYSTEM QUARTERLY OPERATION AND PERFORMANCE
Equipment Inventory: 100 cfm Stealth Catalytic Oxidizer
Operating Mode: Shut down pending SJVUAPCD application review
APCD Permit No.: N-903-2-0
TPH Concentration End of Period (lab): ---
Benzene Concentration End of Period(lab): ---
MTBE Concentration End of Period (lab): ---
Flow Rate End of Period: - -
HC Destroyed this Period(lab): ---
Cumulative HC Destroyed: 3467.25 lbs.
Percent Time Operational: 0
DISCUSSION:
At the time of the first quarter monitoring event, groundwater was encountered in the monitoring wells at
depths ranging from approximately 42.20 to 44.62 feet below ground surface (bgs). Well S-1 was dry.
Groundwater elevations in the monitoring wells increased 1.74 to 2.21 feet since the fourth quarter 2002
sampling event. Depth to water measurements were normalized to mean sea level (MSL), and were used
to construct a groundwater elevation contour map (Figure 2). The general groundwater flow direction on
January 17, 2002, was calculated to be towards the south-southeast at an average gradient of 0.002 ft/ft.
South-southeast groundwater flow direction has consistently been observed during previous monitoring
events.
TPHG was detected in well MW-4 (55 pg/L). MTBE was detected in wells MW-3 and MW-4, with the
highest concentration (24 pg/L) detected in well MW-3. MTBE was also detected in well MW-7 (19 µg/L),
BTEX compounds were was not detected in any of the wells during the first quarter 2003. TBA was
detected in wells MW-3 (9.3 fig/L) and MW-4 (6.1 gg/L). Fuel oxygenate compounds were not detected in
wells MW-1, MW-2, MW-6, MW-9, and MW-10. TPHG, benzene, and MTBE data have been summarized
on Figure 3.
ATTACHMENTS:
• Table 1 Groundwater Elevation and Analytical Summary
• Table 2 Groundwater Analytical Results for Oxygenates
• Figure 1 Site Location Map
• Figure 2 Groundwater Elevation Contour Map(First Quarter 2003)
• Figure 3 Groundwater Analytical Summary (First Quarter 2003)
• Appendix A Field Data Sheets
Appendix Sampling and Analysis Procedures
• Appendix C Certified Analytical Reports and Chain-of-Custody Documentation
P:IUSA Gasoline100651Qtrly120031USA_65_1Q03.DOC STRATUS
