(Stratus)has
prepared this report presenting the results of the fourth quarter 2000 groundwater
monitoring event conducted at USA Station 65, located at 2500 West Lodi Avenue, Lodi,
California (Figure 1). Also included in this report is data collected during the operation
of a soul vapor extraction system (SVES), which began operation during the third quarter
2000.
BACKGROUND
The majority of information provided in this section was gathered from a Remedial
Action Plan (RAP) prepared by Pinnacle Environmental Solutions, Inc. (Pinnacle), a
division of EMCON, dated January 26, 1999. A limited site investigation completed in
March 1987 detected petroleum hydrocarbons in soil and groundwater beneath the site.
The investigation included the drilling and sampling of four soil borings; two of which
were completed as groundwater monitoring wells (S-1 and S-2). 7n August 1987, three
additional groundwater monitoring wells were installed (MW-1, MW-2, and MW-3).
Additional monitoring wells (MW-4, MW-5, MW-6, MW-7, and MW-8) were installed
to assess the lateral extent of petroleum hydrocarbon impact to groundwater. Figure 2
presents the location of all monitoring wells.
Three gasoline underground storage tanks (USTs) and associated piping were removed
and replaced on October 6 and 7, 1997, Approximately 500 cubic yards of hydrocarbon-
impacted soil were excavated and removed from the site during these activities.
Pinnacle prepared and submitted a RAP in January 1999. The RAP recommended the
construction, installation and operation of a soil vapor extraction and air sparge system to
mitigate the petroleum hydrocarbon impact to soil and groundwater.
i
CAProject FileslUSA Gasohne100651Qtr1y14Q00.doe
