Mr. Knoll:
On behalf of USA Gasoline Corporation (USA), Stratus Environmental, Inc. (Stratus) has
prepared this report presenting-the results of the second quarter`2000 groundwater
monitoring event conducted at USA Station 65, located-at 2500 West Lodi Avenue, Lodi, '
California(Figure 1).
BACKGROUND
The majority of information .provided in this section was gathered from a Remedial
Action Plan prepared :by.-Pinnacle Environmental:Solutions, Inc. (Pinnacle),-a division of
EMCON, on January 26, 1999. A limited site investigation completed in March- 1987,
detected petroleum hydrocarbons in .soil . and groundwater beneath 'the site. The'
investigation included the drilling and sampling of four soil borings; two of which were
completed to groundwater monitoring wells (S-1 and S-2). In August 1987, three
E additional groundwater monitoring wells were installed. (MW-1, MW-2, and MW-3).
I
Additional monitoring wells (MW=4 MW-5, MW-6, MW=7 and MW-8) were installed to
assess the lateral extent of petroleum hydrocarbon impact to groundwater. Figure 2
presents the location of all monitoring wells.
Three gasoline underground. storage tanks and associated piping were removed and
replaced on October 6 and 7, 1997. Approximately 500 cubic yards of hydrocarbon-
impacted soil were excavated and removed from the site during.these activities.
I
Pinnacle prepared and submitted a Remedial Action Plan (RAP) in January 1999. The -
RAP recommended the construction, installation and operation of a soil vapor extraction
and air sparge system to mitigate the petroleum hydrocarbon impact to soil and
groundwater.
On May 4 and 5, 2000, Stratus supervised the installation of two groundwater monitoring
` wells (MW-9 and MW-10) to assess the lateral extent of petroleum hydrocarbon impact
C:VNy Doc ments\(JSA GasoM60655QirIy1065g200-doc - J
0
