(Stratus) has prepared this permit cancellation request on behalf of
USA Gasoline Corporation (USA) for the soil vapor extraction system (SVE) operated at USA
Service Station No. 65, 2500 West Lodi Avenue, Lodi, California.
The SVE system consisting of 150 standard cubic feet per minute (cfm) Stealth Bobcat catalytic
oxidizer and 5 horsepower Roots positive displacement blower was operated at the site since
August 15, 2000 to August 15, 2002, under permit N-903-2-0. The'iblower was used to extract i
i soil vapors which were then abated in the catalytic oxidizer prior to discharge to atmosphere.
i -
During this two-year operational period, approximately 3,457 pounds of total petroleum
hydrocarbon as gasoline (TPHG) was removed by the soil vapor extraction system. The soil
vapors were extracted at flow rates ranging from 6 cfm to 78.63 cfm lat an applied vacuum in the
range of 15 to 60 inches of water column (see Tables 1 & 2). The mass emission rates of TPHG
and benzene was in the range of less than 0.03 lbs/day to 0.71 lbs/day and that of benzene was in
the range of less than 0.0003 lbs/day to less than 0.0033 lbs/day 1`(see Table 3) respectively. ;
Additionally, Stratus technician maintained field data sheets to I record flow rates, system
temperature, exhaust temperature, hour meter reading, and influent and effluent photo-ionization
i detector(PID) readings.
Stratus shut down the SVE system on August 15, 2002 due toy low influent hydrocarbon l
concentrations. In addition, the low influent concentrations resulted in high electrical energy
consumption by the catalytic oxidizer. Stratus requests the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution
{ Control District to cancel the permit to operate for the SVE catalytic oxidizer.
PAUSA Gasoline100651Correspondencelusa 65 ATC Renewal.doc
