(Stratus) has prepared this letter, on behalf of USA Gasoline <br /> Corporation (USA), to present the preliminary results of source testing conducted during <br /> the start-up of a 150 cubic feet per minute (cfm) soil vapor extraction (SVE) system at <br /> i USA Station No. 65, located at 2500 West Lodi Avenue, Lodi,-California (see Figure 1). r <br /> The:construction of the SVE�systern, consisting of two 1000-pound carbon units in series <br /> and:) a Fuji 2.3 horsepower,. (hp) blower, was completed during July 2003, as per j <br /> requirements specified in the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution control District <br /> (SJVAPCD) Authority to Construct (ATC, Permit No. N-4887-1-0, dated April 22, <br /> 2003). r. <br /> The. start-up operation of the SVE. system was initiated on August 1, 2003, in the <br /> presence of SJVAPCD personnel. Petroleum_ hydrocarbon laden soil vapors were <br /> extracted from wells S-1, S-2, VW-1, and MW-8 (Figure 2) using'the Fuji 2.3 hp blower, <br /> + and then treated using the two 1,000-pound granular activated carbon units in series prior ; <br /> to discharge to the atmosphere. In accordance with the system monitoring requirements <br /> specified in the ATC, influent and effluent vapor samples were collected on August 1, <br /> 2003, in the presence of SJVAPCD personnel. The air samples were forwarded to Alpha <br /> Analytical, Inc. (Alpha), a state certified laboratory (ELAP #3019), and analyzed for total <br /> petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHG). using United States Environmental <br /> Protection Agency (USEPA) method 8015B/DHS LUFT Manual, and for benzene, <br /> toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (BTEX compounds) and methyl tertiary butyl <br /> ether (MTBE) using USEPA Method 8260B (Appendix A).
