These results corroborate. the very low organic vapor
analyzer readings of coil samples and cuttings from the three
boreholes. The. results also svggest. that soil hydrocarbon
contamination of the soil is likely to be relatively restricted
to the area beneath the underground storage tanks and in
particular, to the area near ground-water monitoring well S-1.
Luboratory results of water analyses indicate nondetectable :to
relatively low concentrations of hydrocarbons. Concentrations of
total volatile hydrocarbons are less than 0.1 ppm and a
nondetectable concentration (i.e. , less than 1.0 ppm) of total
fuel hydrocarbons was found in water from well MW-1. Concen-
trations of benzene in wells MW-1 and MW-2 and concentrations of
toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylene isomers in wells MW-1
through M1-3 are less than the maximum concentrations that are
recommended for drinking water by the State of California
-._.. _.-._._Department-.of-:-Health.services_----The-benzene-concentration -found -- ---
in MW-3 is 2.7 parts per billion, which exceeds:the recommended
U
maximum concentration for drinking water of 0.7 part.per.billion.
r' 19
w
.4PP/ietY r'O.Sysfes
MI Mon—
