PRELIMINARY SITE ASSESSMENT INVESTIGATION <br /> USA SERVICE STATION 9GS <br /> �. LODI, CALIFORNIA <br /> INTRODUCTION <br /> This report documents an investigation to 2165055 the impact of site <br /> activities an soil and ground water at USA 5trvice station #GS <br /> located at 2500 West Lodi Avenue at Lower Sacramento Road in Lodi, <br /> California. Pacific Environmental Group, Inc, tPACIFICI performed <br /> the investigation for Gettler-Ryan Inc, on behalf of Shell oil <br /> Company, which is considering acquisition of the site. Tho purpose <br /> of the investigation was to collect data which would be useful in <br /> determining Possible underground contamination at the site. <br /> s <br /> The scope of work included exploratc-ry drilling, observation well <br /> r installation, and soil andground <br /> water <br /> Jq <br /> and anal5. <br /> Detailed descriptions of the Fieldprocedures, analyticalitechniques. <br /> 'r regional hydrogeology, and a regulatory g Y perspective are included in <br /> the A <br /> Rpendico6 to this report. The last Appendix is a remedial <br /> action cost estimate provided by Gettler-Ryan Inc. <br /> S <br /> t <br /> SITE CONDITIONS <br /> i <br /> General <br /> �• s <br /> The project site is located on the southwest corner of Lodi Avenue <br /> and Lower Sacramento Road in the western part of Lodi tree <br /> Figure Il. Lend use to the east of the site is primarily residential <br /> and commercial, while land use to the west is primarily <br /> agricultural. Topography is nearly flat, with a gentle slope <br /> l westward. The northwest-flowing Mokelumne River lies approximately <br /> one mile north of the site. Based on these surface conditions, the <br /> regional ground-water gradient <br /> 15 assumed to be northwest in the <br /> general direction of topographic relief and surface drainage. An. <br /> irrigation canal runs immediately adjacent to the site. It is lined <br /> and is not suspected to influence groundwater gradient beneath the <br /> g site. <br /> Sife Jpe-rations <br /> A gasoline service station and car wash currently operate ori the <br /> site. The station layout 15 shown on Figure 2. Three [2,000-gallon <br /> { steel underground storage tanks exist at the sites these store <br /> { <br /> regular leaded-gasoline,--regular-unleaded-gasoline, and-premium- <br /> unleaded gasoline. The site does not have a waste oil tank, The ` <br /> GOO-gallon subsurface vault adjacent to the car wash is used only as <br /> a sand trap, the three service islands are equipped with Phase II <br /> vapor recovery systems. No product leak detection devices are <br /> currently in Use.. The site operator is not aware of. eny current or. <br /> past systom leakage problems.
