27 October 2000
AGE-NC Project No. 98-0497
3.3. WELL AND BORING COMPLETION
Borings MW-1 through MW-3 were completed as ground water monitoring wells MW-i through
MW-3 using two-inch diameter Schedule 40 PVC casing with 0.010-inch slotted screen installed
from approximately 58 feet to 78 feet bsg and with blank casing extended to the surface. The filter
pack (No. 3 Lonestar sand) was installed from 56 feet to approximately 78 feet bsg in the borings.
A nominal 5-foot bentonite-chip plug was then installed above the filter pack and hydrated with
approximately ten gallons of water.
Soil boring P-3 was backfilled with portland cement to grade through the augers. The ground water
monitoring wells were grouted to near the surface with portland cement. Water-tight, traffic-rated
well boxes were then installed over the wells. As-built well diagrams are depicted on the boring logs
in Appendix A.
3.4. LABORATORY ANALYSES OF SOIL SAMPLES
Selected soil samples were analyzed for:
Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) and diesel (TPH-d) in
accordance with EPA Method 8015 Modified;
Volatile aromatic hydrocarbons: benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes (BTEX)
in accordance with EPA Method 8020; and
Oxygenated compounds: di-isopropyl ether(DIPE),ethyl tertiary-butyl ether(ETBE),methyl
tertiary-butyl ether(MTBE),tertiary-amyl methyl ether(TAME),tertiary butanol(TBA),and
methanol, ethanol, ethyldibro Aide (EDB) and 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA) in accordance
with EPA Method 8260-Modified, respectively.
3.5. MONITORING WELL DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES
On 17 August 2000, a Solinst water level meter was used to measure the depth to ground water in
monitoring wells MW-1 through MW-3. After recording depth to ground water measurements, a
minimum of 15 to 20 gallons of water was removed from each well using a steel bailer. Temperature,
pH and conductivity of purged ground water were measured at 5-gallon intervals, using a Hydac
water analyzer. Purged water was temporarily stored on-site in 55-gallon DOT-approved H-17
storage drums pending proper (:Esposal.
Advanced Get)Environmental,Inc.
