In attendance were Margaret
Lagorio, supervisor of PHS/EHD, Dot Lofstrom, Registered Geologist for PHS/EHD, and Lori
Duncan,Mike Infurna, Harlan Knoll, and Jeffrey Wong, Senior Registered Environmental Health
Specialists for PHS/EHD. Also present were Karen Petryna, Civil and Environmental Engineer
for Equiva and Joe Neely and Aubrey Cool, project manager and project geologist for Cambria,
respectively.
The meeting began with a general discussion regarding US Environmental Protection Agency
method 8260. Shell stated that they have a contract in place with Kiff Laboratory as of May 2001
and that all future oxygenate analysis will be conducted using method 8260. The discussion then
proceeded to specific Shell sites. The following is a brief summary of each site as it was
discussed.
880 Victor
Jeff Wong approved the workplan for this site in August 2000 but it was apparently never mailed.
Methyl tertiary butyl ether(MtBE)concentrations in groundwater have increased up to 14,000
micrograms per liter(µg/1) since the workplan was first submitted. If the workplan still seems
appropriate, Mr. Wong will send out a workplan approval.
Action item: Jeff Wong to evaluate workplan and send response.
4315 Waterloo Road
Jeff Wong received analytical data that indicate weathered gasoline. The vertical extent of
contamination remains undefined at this site. Concentrations of MtBE have increased from 20
µg/1 to 150 µg/l. Additional groundwater investigation is required at this site. The vertical
investigation needs to extend down to the historic low depth of 90 feet below ground surface
(bgs).
Action item: Jeff Wong to send letter to Shell directing them to install additional wells and
determine vertical extent of contamination.
1313 Charter
This site is progressing satisfactorily. A drilling permit was issued June 18,2001 and the
fieldwork is scheduled for July.
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
