PACIFIC
ENVIRONMENTAL
GROUP INC.
0"
id V s
January 10, 1996 P
Project 920-039.1A
Mr. Brett Hunter
Chevron U.S.A. Products Company
6001 Bollinger Canyon Road, Building L .
San Ramon,CA 94583
Re: Former Chevron U.S.A. Service Station 9-6258
2409 E. Main Street at F Street
Stockton, California
Dear Mr. Hunter:
This letter, prepared by Pacific Environmental Group, Inc. (PACIFIC) for Chevron
U.S.A. Products Company (Chevron), presents a work plan to confirm the presence of
petroleum hydrocarbons at the site, and evaluate the lateral and vertical extent of
petroleum hydrocarbons (if present) in soil and groundwater beneath the site. This work
plan includes a brief discussion of site background, previous investigations, proposed
scope of work, and a schedule. Field and laboratory procedures are presented as
Attachment A.
SITE BACKGROUND
The site is located at the northeast corner of East Main Street and F Street in Stockton,
California, situated in the northeastern portion of the San Joaquin Valley (Figure 1, Site
Location Map). It is our understanding that the site is owned by the Hinaman Trust.
The site is currently vacant. Formerly, Chevron Service Station 9-6258 operated at the
site. The Former.facilities at the site included four underground storage tanks (USTs),
associated underground piping and pump island, and a station building (Figure 2, Site
Map). Four USTs were reportedly installed in 1955 and the gasoline USTs removed in
1976. No information was available regarding the removal of other underground
facilities at the"site.
The former USTs consisted of three gasoline fuel (5,000-gallon supreme, 2,000-gallon
mid-grade, and 5,000-gallon regular) tanks of single wall steel construction located on
the western portion of the site and one 550-gallon used oil tank of single wall steel
construction located northeast of the former station building.
2025 Gateway Place, Suite 440, San Jose, California 95110 (408)441-7500 FAX(408)441-7539
11315 Sunrise Gold Circle, Suite M, Rancho Cordova,California 95742 (916) 858-2350 FAX(916) 858-2355
