These regulations govern
the investigation and mitigation activities at leaking underground storage tank sites. To obtain a copy,
please contact the SWRCB at(916)657-2390. Remedial Action Completion certification occurs only
after PHS/EHD has determined that no further site investigation or remedial action is required.
All work and reports which require geological or engineering evaluations must be performed under the
direction of an appropriately California registered or certified professional.
As a follow up to our May 20, 1997 meeting, PHS/EHD provides the following directive to all responsible
parties at the above listed site based upon the following information.
Analytical data from overexcavation and product line samples obtained August 15, 1996 at the site listed
above confirm the presence of petroleum hydrocarbons in soil as a result of an unauthorized release.
Samples were obtained during the limited overexcavation at a depth of approximately 25 feet below grade
surface and given the estimated groundwater elevation of approximately 30 feet below grade surface a
groundwater investigation is required.
In accorrdance with corrective action regulation PHS/EHD directs you as responsible party to submit a
comprehensive workplan which when implemented will fully define the lateral and vertical extent of
contamination in both soil and groundwater. This workplan shall be submitted to PHS/EHD for review
no later than July 21, 1997.
If you have any questions or there are any corrections in the responsible party information, contact Ronald
Rowe at(209)468-0342.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
JANOJA kpw2
Ronald Rowe, Senior REHS Margaret LREHS
LOP/Site Mitigation Unit IV Supervisor
>
RR:lb
+ c: SWRCB, Underground Storage Tank Section-Lori Casias
c: RWQCB, Central Valley Region-Elizabeth Thayer
(SITELET REV 02/20/97)
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
