f .
15 April 2002
AGE-NC Project No. 00-0729
3.2. SOIL SAMPLE COLLECTION
Discrete soil samples were collected at selected intervals from each soil boring. Soil samples were
collected using a Geoprobe soil sampling assembly loaded with four pre-cleaned 1.125-inch by
6-inch brass sleeves.Soil samples were preserved by covering both ends of the selected brass sleeve
with Teflon sheets, capping, and sealing with tape. Each sample sleeve was labeled with soil probe
' boring location, depth, time, date and sampler's initials.
.Each preserved sample was logged on a chain-of-custody form, placed in a chilled container and
transported to Cal Tech Environmental Laboratories (CTEL) a California Department of Health
L► Services (DHS)-certified laboratory. Selected samples were analyzed for:
f Total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-g) in accordance with EPA Method
8015 Modified;
# Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylene"(BTEX), and methyl tertiary butyl ether
v (MTBE)by EPA Method 8020.
3.3. EQUIPMENT DECONTAMINATION
W
Prior to sample collection, Geoprobe soil sampling equipment was thoroughly rinsed with clean
water after washing with a solution of Alconox.Geoprobe rods were thoroughly cleaned prior to soil
R probe boring advancement.
r 4.0. FINDINGS
Laboratory analysis of soil samples was utilized to assess for hydrocarbon-impacted soil at the site.
4.1 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF SOIL SAMPLES
t
A total of four soil samples were submitted to CTEL for analysis as noted above. TPH-g, BTEX
compounds and.MTBE were not detected at or above laboratory reporting limits in the soil samples
analyzed.
Analytical results of soil samples are summarized in Table 1. Copies of the laboratory report
(CTEL Lab I.D.Nos.0203-162-1,0203-162-5,0203-162-10 and 0203-162-15)and chain-of-custody
form are included in Appendix A.
t
1r Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
r
