John and Margaret Marci Property Page 2
2969 Loomis Road March 23,2009
Stockton, California 95205
The EHD conditionally approves the three pilot tests. GTI proposes to use monitoring wells MW-5
and MW-7, screened between fifty-five and seventy feet bsg, and MW-4, screened between
approximately sixty and eighty feet bsg, as observation wells. Groundwater is currently at
approximately fifty-three feet bsg, thus there is a minimum of one-and-a-half feet of water above
the screened intervals of MW-5 and MW-7 and over six feet of water above the screened interval of
MW-4. As a result, it is unlikely a drop in pressure will be observed in these three monitoring
wells. This is also true for injection well IW-101, and extraction wells EW-101, EW-102, and
EW-103, all screened between fifty-five and fifty-seven feet bsg. Measurements may be taken to
detect pressure reductions in these wells; however, the EHD does not expect to obtain useful data.
Instead, the EHD believes the three pilot tests should use injection well IW-1, and extraction wells
EW-1, EW-2, EW-3, and EW-6 as observation wells since these wells are screened within the
vadose zone. This means the first test would involve extracting groundwater and soil vapor from
proposed well EW-4 while measuring vacuum, depth to water, and collecting PID readings in
observation wells IW-1, EW-1, EW-2, EW-3, and EW-6; the second test would involve extracting
soil vapors from proposed well EW-6 while measuring vacuum, depth to water, and collecting PID
readings in observation wells IW-1, EW-1, EW-2, and EW-3; and the third test would involve
extracting groundwater and soil vapors from proposed well EW-5 while measuring vacuum, depth
to water, and collecting PID readings in observation wells IW-1, EW-1, EW-2, EW-3, and EW-6.
In addition, monitor pressure and depth-to-water in a monitoring well screened into the vadose zone
and located outside the potential radius of influence to allow for corrections in atmospheric pressure
variations and depth-to-water fluctuations.
Please submit a well permit application and permit/inspection fee of$404 to the EHD and notify
the EHD at least a week prior to initiating the fieldwork. Complete.the pilot tests by June 12, 2009,
and submit the report to the EHD within sixty days of completing the tests.
