A previous consultant, Wm. J. Hunter & Associates, .installed four
groundwater monitoring wells in an effort to determine if diesel fuel has impacted
groundwater. Diesel contamination was subsequently detected in groundwater at the site.
In August 2001, Geological Technics Inc. (GTI) installed three additional monitoring wells
at the site. Two wells, MW-5 and MW-6,.were completed as shallow wells screened across
the water table at approximately 60 feet below grade. One well, MW-105, was completed
r with a discretely screened interval afapproximately 30 feet below the water table. The new
Li and existing wells have been sampled for four consecutive quarters and laboratory analysis
of groundwater samples indicates the presence of diesel in the.deep well.
In our August 20, 2001, "2°d Quarter 2001 Groundwater Monitoring" report, GTI
recommended the installation of two additional deep monitoring wells. The purpose of
these wells is to determine if there is"a difference in shallow versus deep groundwater plume
behavior. In their September 6, -2001 letter,-the San Joaquin County Public Health
Services/Enviromnental Health Division (SJC PHS/EHD) directed the submittal of a work
plan to install additional deep-screened monitoring wells.. The purpose of the following
r work plan is to better define the site conceptual model and meet the requirements of the SJC
L.; PHS/EHD directive.
i
2.0 PROPOSED INVESTIGATION
The existing deep-screened well MW-105 is screened from 90—95 feet below grade surface
r (bgs). The well has contained <50—.210 mg/1 Total Extractable Petroleum Hydrocarbons as
+ Diesel (TEPH-D) during the four sampling events conducted to date. Figure 2 includes
r TEPH-D concentrations from the June 27, 2001 monitoring event. The water table plume
L .
I
