A previous consultant, Wm. J. Hunter&Associates (WJH), installed four
groundwater monitoring wells in an effort to determine if diesel fuel had impacted
groundwater. In 1992, diesel contamination was detected in groundwater at the site. The San
Joaquin County Public Health Services/Environmental Health Division (SJC PHS/EHD)
subsequently directed that an investigation of the diesel release be initiated.
The work performed to date is summarized below*:
• March 1987 —Two 5,000 gallon diesel USTs removed.
• March 1988 — UST excavation deepened to 29 feet below grade surface (bgs).
i
Excavation was filled with clean backfill.
• April 1992 — Three groundwater monitoring wells installed (MW-1 through MW-3),
Wm. J. Hunter&Associates.
• May 1996—A single soil boring (LB-1)to 80 feet bgs installed, Lush Geosciences.
i
• September 1997- Well MW-4 installation, Wm. J. Hunter& Associates..
• August 2000 — Two shallow wells (MW-5 & MW-6) and one deep well (MW-105)
L.' installed, Geological Technics Inc.
