I
Ce01t Tech'' `ccs lac.
1 101 Th Street
Mod(209)2e-4119/Fax(209)522-4227
Report
is .
Additional Site Characterization
Soil'& Groundwater Investigation
Westley Fuel Service
4549 Ingram Creek Rd.
Westley, California
Project No. 701.2
July 24, 2002
1.0 INTRODUCTION
An underground storage tank containing diesel fuel was formerly located on the property —
see Figures 1 & 2. A previous consultant, Wm. J. Hunter & Associates, installed four
groundwater monitoring wells in an effort to determine if diesel fuel had impacted
:. groundwater. Diesel contamination was subsequently detected in groundwater at the site. .
In August 2001, Geological Technics Inc. (GTI) installed three additional monitoring wells
at the site. Two wells, MW-5'and MW-6, were completed as shallow wells screened across
the water table at approximately 60 feet below grade. One well, MW-105, was completed
with a discretely screened interval at approximately 30 feet below the water table. The new
and existing wells have been sampled for four consecutive quarters and laboratory analysis
of groundwater samples indicates the presence of diesel in the deep well.
In our August 20, 2001, "tad Quarter 2001 Groundwater Monitoring" report, GTI
recommended the installations!of two additional deep monitoring wells. The purpose of
these wells was to deterznine,if there is a difference in shallow versus deep groundwater
plume behavior. In their letter of September 6, 2001, the San Joaquin County Public Health
Services/Environmental Health Division (SJC PHS/EHD) directed the submittal of a work
plan to install additional deep-screened monitoring wells. GTI submitted our October 25,
p 2001, work plan and subsequent addendum to meet the requirements of the SJC PHS/EHD
directive.
2.0 SCOPE OF INVESTIGATION
The existing deep-screened well MW-105 is screened from 90 —95 feet below grade surface
i (bgs). ` The well has contained from <50 to 210 mg/1 Total Extractable Petroleum
Hydrocarbons as Diesel (TEPH-D) during the four sampling events conducted to date. GTI
proposed installing two additional deep-screened wells, MW-104 and MW-106, located
adjacent to the north corner of the site building and adjacent to well. MW-6.
