Louise
Lathrop, CA
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) has reviewed the
underground storage tank (UST) file for the above site. PHS/EHD sent a letter to the owner of the property
notifying him that contamination from the former UST's at the site had been documented based on the
results of sail samples taken beneath the tanks when they were removed.
In a phone conversation with Margaret Lagorio, Senior REHS, PHS/EHD,Frank Ryan, owner of the property
stated he wanted to "add on to the park". He stated the city of Lathrop is requiring a 7 foot wide sump for
storm water purposes. PHS/EHD is concerned that any excavation in the area of the former underground
tanks would involve removal of contaminated soil and possibly contaminated ground water. The lateral and
vertical extent of soil and ground water contamination should be physically defined before this area is
excavated. This was explained to Mr. Ryan and a list of consultants has been mailed to him so that he can
contact there for proposing further work at the site.
Enclosed is a field inspection drawing and a tank removal plan drawing of where the tanks were formerly
located. We appreciate your cooperation is assuring that any excavation in this area is done with our
oversight.
If you have any questions contact Margaret Lagorio, Senior REHS, at (209) 468-3449.
Jogi Khanna, M.P.H.
Health Officer
e A.
