Louise Ave., Lathrop, California May 28, 1998 <br /> Phase II Site Characterization- Continued Page: 3 <br /> 1 <br /> I3.0 Scope of Work <br /> On April 17th and 28th 1998 WF F, Inc , in conjunction with Frontier Drilling and Fisch <br /> Exploration completed five(5) vertical soil borings and one (1) 3 0° slant boring to various <br /> depths Soil samples were collected at 5 foot intervals for geologic and laboratory <br /> analysis During these activities Mr James Digorgio of the State Water Resources Board <br /> and Margaret Lagono of San Joaquin County was present to witness the work Through <br /> the course of the day Mr Digorgio request bio-degradation parameters on at least three <br />' (3) soil samples, dissolved oxygen samples on two (2) monitoring wells and a complete <br /> panel on the irrigation well <br />' 3.1 Drilling <br /> Permits were obtained as necessary for all wells before drilling began The soil <br /> borings were accomplished using a mobile mounted drilling ng employing the use <br /> of a hollow stem flight auger of 6 112" o d <br />' All drilling equipment was thoroughly steam-cleaned before drilling began, <br /> prevent the introduction of contamination from off site, and between borings to <br /> prevent cross contamination <br /> The borings were logged under the direct supervision of a registered professional <br /> using the Unified Soil Classification System (Appendix F) The color, texture, <br /> moisture, plasticity (if applicable), consistency of the earth materials, pertinent soil <br /> or bedrock characteristics and any evidence of contamination were noted All <br /> water bearing zones and the depths at which they were encountered were also <br /> noted on these logs(Appendix C) <br />' All borings were drilled in such a manner as to prevent cross contamination <br /> between strata Exploratory soil borings within the unsaturated zone were <br /> backfilled with a cement and three percent (3%)Bentonite mixture <br /> A Geo-Probe drilling rig was utilized to accomplish the 30° slant boring and <br />' sample collection on said <br /> The cuttings from the drilling operation were containerized on-site during drilling <br />' for proper disposition The proper method of disposal will be dependent upon <br /> • results of laboratory analysis This disposal is the responsibility of the client unless <br />' other arrangements have been made <br />
