Soil and Groundwater Investigation
Quik Stop No 121
Page 5
collected for geotechnical analysis The geotech laboratory reported this sample to consist of sand
with some silt This sand horizon extended to depths of 18 to 20 feet in four of the five sample
locations The one exception was at GP-5, located on the south side of the site, which was found
to have light grey to grey-brown, silty clay to clayey silt at depths of 14 to 20 feet A sample (GP-5-
17) was collected for geotechnical analysis The geotech laboratory reported this sample to consist
of sandy clay, with a porosity of 38 7 %, a moisture content of 21 7% and a dry density of 103 3
pounds per cubic foot Soil sample GP-2, located on the north side of the site, was also found to
have a stiff clay lens between 20 and 22 feet Below 22 feet and extending to a depth of 28 feet at
GP-5 and 30 feet at GP-1, alternating sequences of sand, sandy silt and occasional minor lenses of
clay were encountered During the collection of samples, no unusual odors were noted at any of the
five sample locations Organic vapor readings taken on soil samples collected from GP-4 and GP-5
registered low vapor readings of 21 parts-per-million (ppm) or lower As previously mentioned,
groundwater was generally encountered at a depth of 15 feet in 4 of the 5 sample locations
Groundwater at GP-5 was encountered at 20 feet under confined conditions and immediately rose
to approximately 15 feet Copies of the boring logs are attached in Appendix B Copies of the
geotechnical soil analysis are attached in Appendix E
2000-Foot Radius Well Survey
CCI conducted a well survey at the State of California Department of Water Resources (Water
Resources Board) The well survey included a search for all municipal, domestic, agricultural and
industrial wells within a 2,000-foot radius of the subject site (Appendix C, Figure 4) The survey
found 4 wells within the search area One well is located at the First Christian Church, located
northwest of the intersection of Louise Avenue and Union Road More specifically, this well is
located 350 feet west of Union Road and 200 feet north of Louise Avenue The well, which is used
for domestic purposes, extends to a depth of 158 feet A second well is located west of the subject
site,at the Union Cemetery The well is located approximately 225 feet south of Louise Avenue and
150 feet west of Union Road The depth of this well is unknown The well is most likely used for
irrigation purposes City of Manteca Well # 15 is located approximately 1,000 feet southeast of
the subject site This municipal well is located at the corner of Franciscan Way and Agate Avenue
The well has two perforated intervals, at 140 to 180 feet and at 205 feet to 265 feet A fourth well
used for irrigation purposes is reported to be Iocated 300 yards east of Union Road, on the north side
of Louise Avenue CCI was unable to physically locate this well Copies of the well drillers reports
for the wells located within the search area are attached Several other wells located within the
township and range of the subject site are provide in Appendix C
Laboratory Analysis and Results
• CCI submitted a total of 21 soil and 5 water samples to North State Environmental (North State)
