(Cambria) prepared this work plan on behalf of Shell
+ Oil Products US to provide further assessment of perched water conditions near the northwestern
I dispenser island at the site referenced above as requested in San Joaquin County Environmental
Health Department's (SJCEHD's)May 20, 2002 letter. The proposed scope of work presented in
this document will comply with SJCEHD and Regional Water Quality Control Board guidelines.
Site Location and Description
The site is an operating service station located on the northeastern corner of the intersection of
Lower Sacramento Road and Hammer Lane in a commercial area of Stockton, California
(Figure 1). The site layout consists of a service station building, three dispenser islands, three
existing underground fuel storage tanks (USTs), and a former fuel UST complex(Figure 2).
Previous Work
198811989 Tank Removal: During December 1988 and January 1989, two 5,000-gallon and two
i 8,000-gallon steel fuel USTs and associated piping were removed from the site. Soil samples
Oakland, CA collected from beneath the former tanks contained total petroleum hydrocarbons calculated as
San Ramon, CA
gasoline (TPHg) at concentrations up to 4,880 parts per million (ppm) and up to 3.0 ppm
Sonoma, CA
benzene. Soil samples collected from beneath dispenser islands contained up to 1,510 ppm
Cambria TPHg and 1.56 ppm benzene, with the highest concentrations beneath the northwestern dispenser
Environmental (sample T-3). Soil samples collected from beneath the product lines and the new UST
Technology,Inc.
excavation did not contain detectable concentrations of TPHg or benzene. Soil data for sample
270 Perkins Street T-3 are included in Table 1 and the sample location is shown on Figure 2.
