PHASE I HYDROGFLOLOGIC ASSESSMENT WORK PLAN
7910 Lower Sacramento Road, Stockton, Caiifornia
Delta Project No. 40-88-147
•
Page B
L
Samples placed in jars will be brought to room temperature and the head space of each jar will be
screened for total organic vapors utilizing a portable photoionization detector. Appendix A, Section
I.3, describes the detailed soil-screening procedures. Based on this screening information, soil
i6o samples will be selected for chemical analyses to determine the vertical extent of the presence of
petroleum constituents in the soil of each boring.
3.3 MonitgringWeILInstallation
The monitoring wells will be constructed of 4-inch-diameter, 0.010-inch Schedule 40 (flush-
threaded) PVC screen and 4-inch-diameter Schedule 40 blank casing. The screened interval will
extend approximately 10 feet below and 5 feet above the water table. The proposed monitoring
} well specifications are illustrated in Figure 3.
V
Monitoring wells will be developed by pumping using the methods described in Appendix A,Section
1.5. Ground water samples will be collected from each monitoring well to determine if dissolved
petroleum constituents are present, using methods described in Section 1.6 of Appendix A. Depths
to ground water will be measured in order to establish the direction of round water flow.
rv.
3.4 5oil Chemical_Analyses-
Based on the results of soil-sample screening, soil samples will be selected from each soil boring and
sent to a California-certified laboratory for chemical analysis. The soil samples will be analyzed for
BTEX, (EPA Method 8020)TPH, (EPA Method 8015 modified), and total lead(EPA Method 6010).
3,s_ Ground Wo-terChemical Analyses
L. Ground water samples collected will be analyzed for BTEX (EPA Method 602), TPH (EPA Method
8015 modified), and total lead (EPA Method 6010).
LO
4.0 5CHEDULE
Delta will proceed with the work outlined in this plan as soon as approval is obtained. A drilling
crew will be mobilized to drill the proposed soil borings within two weeks of approval of this plan.
Laboratory analysis of soil samples generally requires three weeks. A summary report of the results,
including information on subsurface geology, ground water depth and flow direction, water supply
wells in the area, monitoring well construction details, and recommendation for further assessment
or remedial activities will be prepared within three weeks after laboratory results are received.
L
s4.
