The chemical analyses of the soil samples are presented in Table 3 with laboratory
data sheets presented in Appendix B. These soil samples were identified as PL-4 through PL-9 with
sampling locations shown in Figure 2. Concentrations of TPH were below the analytical detection
limit of 10 ppm. Concentrations of toluene and xylenes were detected in soil samples, PL-4 and
PL-6. The analyses reported 0.015 and 0.012 ppm toluene and 0.046 and 0.029 ppm xylenes,
respectively.
! w Tank Xcoxatigr and-InstalIgtion
Two soil samples were collected and sent to Eureka Laboratories to verify the condition of the soils
at the bottom of the new tank location and to document the condition of the soils being removed
_ i•:i
f from the site. The soil samples were Weatified as NP-1 and NP-2 with sampling locations shown
in Figure 2. Chemical results of the soil samples sent to the laboratory indicate that BTX and TPH
were below detection limits(see Table 4). Laboratory data sheets are presented in Appendix C.
i
Three new 12,000-gallon double-walled fiberglass tanks were installed on December 29, 1988.
`Ka3sey Foley, Charles Hunt, and Hjamine Fauila from San Joaquin County, Environmental Health
Department, were present for the installation and pressure testing of the new tanks. The tank
! -- excavation was backfilled with pea gravel and capped with concrete. s
- v
3
Two hundred cubic yards of soil and backfill were excavated from the former tank location and
temporarily stockpiled on site. Approximately 100 cubic yards of this soil were used to backfill the
former excavation on January 20, 1989. The remaining 100 cubic yards of soil, plus the 60 cubic
yards of soil from the product line trenches were stockpiled and sampled on January 25, 1989. Five
composite soil samples were obtained and sent to the laboratory for chemical analysis or benzene,
toluene, ethyIbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX), EDB, organo lead, and TPH. The soil samples were
i identified as SPla and SPIb to SPSa and SM with sampling locations shown in Figure 2. A
summary of the chemical results are shown in Table 5 with laboratory data sheets presented in
Appendix D. The chemical analysis for the above petroleum constituents detected the presence of
i
►e: gasoline and motor oil.- Concentration_of TPH as motor ranged from e10.0 to-103.0-parts per ---
million(ppm)and for gasoline from<30.0 to 92.0 spm.
N
e 1 's
((3
tf.
