Dear Mr. Robinson: ;
The purpose of this Ietter is to inform Shell Oil Company of the results relating to
the work conducted at the above referenced site on May 23 1988.
µ' The field work conducted on this date involved drilling eight soil borings in order to
assess the soils for the presence of petroleum hydrocarbons. Soil boring;B-1 through
B-4 were located and drilled around the existing underground storage tanks. Soil
borings B-5 through B-g were located and drilled within the proposed location for
the new underground storage tanks (Figure 1).
Sail samples from each soil boring were collected every five feet in brass tubes with
a modified California sampler. One brats tube from each soil sample was sealed and
placed in an ice chest at 40C for storage, The soils in the second brass tube warp
placed in jars and screened with an hNu.meter for total organic vapors. Soil samples.
indicating a vapor reading of 50 parts per million or greater were sent to the
laboratory for analysis. Preliminary screening of the soil samples with the hNn meter
t did not detect the presence of hydrocarbotu(Table I). Soil samples were scot sent to
the laboratory for analysis of total petroleum hydrocarbons(TPH),as field screening
did not indicate a problem.
r>
a
Pracka'ba ut,ans tc Envi.eznonmal Concerns
