Corrective Action Plan
Major System Components:
Four SVE/Groundwater Extraction Wells
' Four 5-gpm Electric Turbine Groundwater Pumps
Double-Contained Groundwater Transport Piping
' One Particle Filter
Two 1,000-1b. Aqueous-Phase GAC Canisters
' The design capacity of the groundwater extraction/treatment will be 15 gpm for normal operation;
however, easy, inexpensive modification (larger capacity turbine pumps) can accommodate
production of up to 35 gpm.
5.4 Dual-Phase SVE and Groundwater Treatment System
Both the soil vapor and groundwater treatment systems will be fabricated in OST's proprietary
' Mobile Interchangeable Treatment System (MITS) configuration delivered to the site read for
g Y
hook-up and operation. The system is fully housed in a secure metal container with dimensions
of 8' x 20' x 8', generally requiring no concrete pad or footings for its installation. The container
is double-lined for noise abatement, and double-containment under the aqueous-phase GAC is
' provided to contain accidental discharge of water. All soil vapor and groundwater transport
piping and utilities will converge at and emanate from the NUTS unit's standard connection port
(SCP). The dual-phase treatment system and connecting piping will be located as illustrated on
Figure 5. A flow diagram showing the major dual treatment system components is presented on
Figure 6.
' 6.0 PROPOSED CLEANUP GOALS
Except for the excessive concentrations of TPHg and benzene, the site meets many of the criteria
of a low-risk groundwater case. The actual cleanup standard for fuel leak cases have been
evolving over the past two years since the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory
' recommendations concerning UST leak sites were promulgated. OST anticipates reductions of
TPHg and benzene of 95 percent or more will be achieved by the proposed remediation program.
1
1
' OST
70I-1-2.cap Page 12
