Box 2009
Stockton, California 95201
SUBJECT: Use of Equivalent Equipment
Interim Remediation Plan
Ultramar Station No. 492
470. North Main Street
Manteca, California
Dear Ms. Lagorio:
This letter is to confirm our conversation today regarding the use of an
equivalent emissions control device for abatement of extracted soil
vapors at the above site.
The IRP/ES for this project specified use of an EVAX Model 510 100 cfm
catalytic incinerator. However, due to equipment availability and
Ultramar's desire to initiate remediation as soon as possible, Ultramar
wishes to use an equivalent 100 cfm catalytic incinerator manufactured by
King-Buck Corporation.
The important issue is that this equivalent King-Buck unit can -meet or _
` exceed all conditions of the Authority to Construct which are applicable
to any 100 cfm catalytic incinerator.
Please confirm with a short note that use of this equivalent incinerator
is acceptable. Thank you.
Sincerely,
EVAX Technologies, Inc.
Robert A. Nunes, REA
Environmental Engineer
cc: Kenneth Earnest
Ultramar, Inc.
