Mitigation Work Plan AGS 86102.2P
Beacon Station #3-492, Manteca, California May 26, 1987
4) a Generalized Site Plan, Plate P-2, showing the
approximate locations of underground tanks, structures,
moni;:oring wells, and proposed vapor recovery and air
inlet wells.
i
5) a ,Schematic Diagram of Proposed Soil Vapor Venting
i System, Plate P-3.
BACKGROUND
The station investigated is located on the southeast corner of
North Main Street and Alameda Street in Manteca. The site
contains an underground storage t-nk cluster which consists of
three 10,000 gallon tanks The central tank, which contained
diesel fuel, failed a precision pressure test. The tanks have
since been lined in situ. A sample taken from a boring drilled
adjacent to the tank at a depth of 12 feet showed eontE-mination
near, but less than, 1,000 parts per million (S-12-B5, Table 1) ,
Three monitoring wells have been drilled at the site (AGS Report
86102-1, dated December 16, 1986) and a soil vapor survey was
done on February 24, 1987. The locations of the tank cavity,
soil borings, and monitoring wells are depicted on the
Generalized Site Plan, Plate P-2.
Data obtained from these wells suggests that soil contamination
is limited to the area immediately adjacent to'and below the tank
` cavity. Ground water has been contaminated by gasoline and
2
