The Assessor's Parcel Number is 227-062-04 and is located in the Escalon
Quadrangle: T2S, R9E, Sec. 4,NW 1/4,NW 1/4.
1.2 Geology and Hydrogeology
The site is located on the eastern boundary of the gradually sloped floor of the northern San
Joaquin Valley. The valley is approximately 400 miles long with an average width of 50
miles. The geologic composition of the area is characterized as fluvial deposits of the San
Joaquin - Sacramento River delta system, which overlay continental rocks and deposits
derived from erosion of the Coast Ranges to the west and the Sierra Nevada Mountain
Range to the east.
The southwest tilting Sierra Nevada fault block underlies the northern San Joaquin Valley
area. Miocene to Holocene unconsolidated sediments, generally clays, silts and gravels,
overlie the.basement granitic and metamorphic rocks. The lower consolidated batholithic
and metamorphic rocks are poorly transmissive, however the overlying sedimentary layers
are often quite permeable.
