A safe <br /> perimeter has been established at 20 feet around boring/excavation. No unauthorized person <br /> should be within this exclusion area. <br /> 4.0. HAZARD EVALUATION <br /> The following substance(s) or hazards are known or suspected to be on site. <br /> SUBSTANCES INVOLVED CONCENTRATLONS; <br /> Gasoline 340 ppm <br /> Waste oil petroleum-based products (?) unknown <br /> i <br /> Other organic-based products (?) unknown <br /> The primary hazards of each are identified as follows: <br /> 1. Hydrocarbon fuels - Components of fuels are colorless liquids with strong aromatic <br /> petroleum hydrocarbon-like odors. They are flammable and have low solubility in water. <br /> Exposure to these materials in excess of recommended exposure limits can cause mild eye, <br /> nose, and throat irritation and can produce a narcotic effect on the central nervous system. <br /> Symptoms of exposure at these concentrations include headache, nausea, drowsiness, <br /> dizziness and loss of coordination. Certain <br /> o <br /> components f gasoline(BTE&X etc.)are known <br /> p <br /> or suspected carcinogens. <br /> The following additional hazards are expected on site: typical work related to facility. Noise, falling <br /> rods flying hammer, snapped cables etc on the backhoe/excavator(if applicable). <br />
