(AGE), to sample some or all monitoring wells screened between ten
and thirty feet below surface grade (bsg) not already sampled in September. AGE plans to
initiate batch groundwater extraction (GWE) in the fourth quarter 2009, but notes that methyl
tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE) concentrations in MW-3, MW-7, and MW-8 had declined sharply in
September 2009. AGE needs the data prior to implementing GWE.
The EHD concurs with the recommendation by AGE, even though the EHD had approved the
semiannual sampling of MW-3, MW-7, and MW-8, and annual sampling of the remaining five
wells by letter dated June 5, 2009. By email on September 21, 2009, the EHD directed AGE
to sample monitoring wells MW-1, MW-2, and MW-6 prior to the end of the third quarter 2009.
Based on results from the September sampling event will determine whether additional
groundwater sampling is needed during the fourth quarter 2009.
Please contact Vicki McCartney at (209) 468-9852 or by email at vmccartney(a)sjcehd.com if
you have any questions concerning this letter.
Sincerely,
Victoria L.
