(AGE) on your behalf for the above-referenced site. High
concentrations of methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE) have been detected in soil samples
collected from boreholes B1 through B3, MW-1, and MW-3, as well as groundwater samples
collected quarterly from monitoring wells MW-1, MW-2, and MW-3, and grab groundwater
samples collected from cone penetration testing (CPT) boring CPTH at depths as great as 93
feet below ground surface.
EHD concurs with AGE's recommendation to install an interim groundwater remediation
system to remove and treat MTBE-impacted groundwater. Please submit a work plan to
EHD by February 28, 2007, that will evaluate the extraction of groundwater from MW-1 and
MW-2.
EHD also concurs with AGE's recommendation to install additional shallow-screened
monitoring wells and one deep-screened monitoring well to monitor groundwater down-
gradient of the source area. EHD also believes additional investigation is needed up-gradient
of the existing underground storage tanks. Please submit a work plan to EHD by February
28, 2007, that will include additional site investigation both up- and down-gradient of the
source area.
Total extractable petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel (TPH-d) has not been detected in any
groundwater samples collected during the two quarterly groundwater monitoring events at
this site. Therefore, EHD concurs with AGE's recommendation to remove the analysis for
TPH-d from future quarterly groundwater monitoring events. EHD also believes di-isopropyl
