Letter of Clarification for Soils Lifts at Royal Oak Barings and Loan <br /> 510 N:Main Street, Manteca, California <br /> Dear Margaret, <br /> r� This letter is to clarify some questions raised by San Joaquin County <br /> Environmental Health Department in regards to the soil lifts at this site. <br /> First,the excavation was to a depth of 24 feet; a shovel was used to excavate to <br /> a depth of 25` in the center of the excavation,.so that a water sample could be obtained. <br /> f i, The water sample hole was approximately 1 foot by 1 foot in size. . <br /> The second point to be clarified are the samples labeled "Top Fill." This dirt <br /> was the top 10' removed from the excavation. The soil was considered overburden by <br /> 1VHF Environmental, however,samples were taken from this stockpile and analyzed <br /> for contamination,and none was found. <br /> This top fill was stockpiled in a different area on site, from all other soils. <br /> When the.excavation was filled in, the "Top Pill" was the soil used to backfill the <br /> excavation from 24' to 16.21. From that puirt upward, soils that had been excavated <br /> but were odor free were used in lifts to a depth of 3'8". The final 3W of soil required. <br /> _ to bring the excavation to grade watt taken from the topsoil ov,;r the entire site. <br /> Contaminated soils had been kept segregated from the odor free soils,and the <br /> - - -- site - - - - <br /> topsoil. Contaminated soils were remediated on ,as described in s report- <br /> entity, Royal Oak Savings, Final Re <br /> mediatifln Plan, Addendum#I- "Sails <br /> Remediation.". <br /> r .f <br />
