Horizon Environmental Inc. Field Methods and
Procedures are included in Appendix A of this Work Plan.
I 1
SITE DE P
S SCRI TION AND BACKGROUND
d The site is an operating gasoline service station located on the southwestern corner of the
`L intersection of East Main Street and Broadway Avenue in Stockton, California. Site
facilities include a station building, two gasoline product dispenser islands located toward
' the northern property boundary, and three underground gasoline storage tanks (USTs)
F located toward the northeasteml.property boundary. Locations of these and other pertinent
site features are shown on the Site Plan(Figure 2).
i Previous environmental work fat the site was performed by Horizon and others. The
previous work by other consultants included drilling three onsite soil borings (SB-1 through
SB-3) prior to removing the UST's, the removal and replacement of the UST's in September
1993, and drilling three additional onsite soil borings and installation of three 4-inch inside
diameter (ID) groundwater monitoring wells (MW-1 through MW-3) in December 1993.
r
i
Between May 8 and 10, 1996, Horizon drilled soil borings B-1 through B-4, and installed
a offsite 2-inch ID groundwater monitoring wells MW-4 and MW-5.
1
On September 11 and 12, 1997; Horizon geologists observed the drilling of six soil borings
i at the site. Three of the borings were located in close proximity to three existing onsite
to
monitoring wells and were completed as monitoring wells MW-6, MW-8, and MW-9, and
were designed to provide a! higher and slightly overlapping screened interval for
groundwater sampling due to rising water levels. An additional boring was drilled and
completed as monitoring well MW-7 in the southeast corner of the site to provide lateral ?
1474-22.wp 2 HORIZON ENVIRONMENTAL INC.
