Page 5
Well Survey
A survey of public and private wells in the area was done to determine if their
operation may affect the groundwater flow direction at the study site. A list of water
wells is kept by the State Department of Water Resources, Groundwater and
Climatology Division. Wells in Township 01S, Range 07E, Sections 28, 29, 32 and 33
of San Joaquin County were surveyed Information concerning 33 well owners, well
locations, use, depth and year drilled was collected and is in the Appendix.
This list was reviewed to determine which wells were within 2,000 feet of the study
site These wells are listed below, including direction and approximate distance from
the study site.
Table 4
Cheaper Store
890 North Main Street, California
Wells Within 2,000 Feet of the Property
Owner Use Distance Direction
City of Manteca #8 Domestic 800' Southwest
Tom Seredge Domestic 1,300' S-Southwest
Mrs Mary Perry Domestic 1,600' S-Southeast
Dorothy Parreira Domestic 1,700' Southeast
Nakata Nursery Domestic 2,000' North
The only well that may have an effect on the groundwater levels at the study site is
the City of Manteca Well #8. According to Joe Young of the City Water Division,
this well is rated at 700 gallons per minute. Well level data for city well #8 provided
by the City Water Division was reviewed from January 1987 through October 1991 to
estimate if the well could effect the groundwater level at the study site.
