Inc. (ERI) is
notifying your office of the scheduled vapor extraction test to be performed at 2701 March Lane,
Stockton, California. The proposed work includes conducting an extended soil vapor extraction test
for up to one week in duration. The purpose of the test is to evaluate methyl tertiary butyl ether
(MTBE) concentrations in the vadose zone and subsurface characferisc•cs with respect to vapor
transport. Data from the test maybe used to evaluate whether concentrations of NITBE in the vapor-
phase are being removed, optimal flow rates, and the radius of influence associated with the selected
air flow rates. ERI will periodically collect influent vapor samples for subminal to Tosco's contract
laboratory for analyses for TPHg, BTEX, and MTBE.
The vapor extraction test equipment will consist of a 1.5 horse power Rotron blower. three 200-
pound vapor-phase carbon vessels for abatement, and associated instruments for measuring flow,
temperature, vacuum and hydrocarbon vapor concentrations. ERI will utilize existing onsite wells
(MW2, and MW3) for vapor extraction and will rotate extraction wells based on the influent
concentrations. The location of the wells are shown on the attached Map of Area. The work is
scheduled to commence on November 16, 1998 with an anticipated duration of up to five days.
Vapor extraction will occur approximately 12 hours per day.
r
74 Digital Drive,Suite 6, Novato, California 94949 415.382-9105 (FAX 415-382-1856)
Lake Forest • Novato • Seattle
