The work plan was
originally prepared in response to a March 3, 2011 letter from the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department (SJCEHD).
The scope of work consists of destroying all existing monitoring and remedial wells at the site in
preparation for case closure, utilizing a combination of over-drilling and pressure-grouting. Upon
review, it has been decided that the air sparge wells (AS-1 through AS-10)will be abandoned by
attempting to over-drill using piloted knock-outs. Upon completion of drilling, the boreholes will be
backfilled with cement grout, the well vaults will be removed, and the surface pavement repaired
to match the surrounding pavement. If on-site conditions warrant a revision in this method,
approval will be obtained from SJCEHD prior to altering the abandonment method. Attached
Table 1 summarizes which wells will be over-drilled and which wells will be pressure-grouted.
If you have any questions regarding the proposed scope of work, please contact Mark P. Bare.
8/22/2011
