March Lane LOP Case#: 1176
Stockton, CA 95215 Global ID#: T0607700718
The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has received a
Concurrence to No Further Action Request letter from the Central Valley Regional Water
Quality Control Board (CVRWQCB) dated February 14, 2011. The site is now qualified to
apply for monitoring/remediation well removal. Please submit a proposal that details the
methods and materials to be used to destroy the wells, which addresses the following well
destruction concerns and requirements of the EHD, and the destruction of the UST welt:
• Wells that have laboratory data of the last sampling event that found contaminants
present are to be destroyed by removing the contents of the well (PVC, sand,
bentonite). The cleared borehole is to be sealed with neat cement by grouting from the
bottom up, to five feet below grade.
• Wells that were found at their last sampling event to be non-detect for contaminants,
with acceptable detection limits, may be destroyed by pressure grouting with the well
casing left in place. The top five feet of the well shall be drilled out with the same size
auger as originally installed, and the top of the well sealed to a mushroom cap with at
least 18 inches of neat cement grout.
• EHD records indicate 'nested' wells are present at this site that were installed using a
10-inch auger. The EHD requirements for destruction of nested wells include removal
of the contents by using an auger larger than the original 10-4nch auger. The
destruction auger shall be centered on the deepest casing (which is off-center in the
original borehole) and sized to reach out and remove the contents of all nested wells
installed during construction.
• This site has nine wells that are located off-site in the City of Stockton right of way.
Please submit a copy of the City encroachment permit along with your EHD Well and
Boring Permit Application forms for these wells.
