?? October 1995
AGE-NC Project No. 95-0120
4.3. SOIL VAPOR EXTRACTION PILOT TEST
For performance of a SVE pilot test, the following procedures will be performed:
1. Connect an IC-engine drive SVE unit to the central SVE well using PVC piping to create a
vacuum.
2. Operate the SVE unit for approximately 8-hours. Supplemental fuel for operation of the SVE
unit will be provided by propane canisters. Unit will be maintained at least 2400 rpms.
3. Monitor air flow rate using a flow meter.
4. Monitor hydrocarbon vapors using a PID.
5. Collect soil vapor samples using Tedlar bags approximately every 2-hours (total of four
samples).
6. Monitor flow rates on remaining SVE well(s)using dedicated vacuum gauges.
7. Incorporate SVE data into CAP (see below).
4.3. REPORTING
Upon completion of this investigation, a Corrective Action Plan (CAP) will be prepared. The CAP
will include results and analysis of drilling and feasibility studies and will include recommendations
for soil and/or ground water remediation. The report will be reviewed and signed by a California
Registered Geologist.
