L .DISPENSER UPGRADE SOIL SAMPLE RESULTS
Collegeville Market and Cafe
13251 East Mariposa Road
Stockton,California
June 10,2002
1.0 INTRODUCTION
Oil Equipment Service (OES) removed two product dispensers and excavated under each at the
Collegeville Market and Cafe (site), located at 13251 East Mariposa Road in Stockton, California(Figure
1, Appendix A). Soil samples were collected from beneath the product dispensers on May 7, 2002.
Condor Earth Technologies, Inc. (Condor) was retained by OES to provide sampling and reporting
services. This report includes a description of the fieldwork, discussion of the laboratory analyses, and
conclusions and recommendations based on the laboratory analytical results of the soil samples.
2.0 DISPENSER REMOVAL
OES removed the two product dispensers as required to retrofit the dispensers with fiberglass product
containment basins. The locations of the dispensers are shown in Figure 2, Appendix A. Condor
personnel on site made field observations and collected soil samples from beneath the dispensers.
Michelle Sterni-Le of the San Joaquin County Public Health Services/Environmental Health Department
(PHS/EHD) was on site to observe the removal activities and to specify soil sampling locations and
respective laboratory analyses. The product dispensers and fill material to approximately four feet below
the ground surface were removed, exposing the associated product piping.
3.0 SOIL SAMPLING
Following the removal of the northwest (NW) and southeast (SE) dispensers, one soil sample was
collected beneath each dispenser on May 7, 2002, from locations selected by Michelle Sterni-Le of the
PHS/EHD. The soil sampled beneath the dispensers generally consisted of light to medium brown silty
sand. The soil samples were collected from undisturbed soil approximately two feet beneath the dispenser
supply piping, at the locations shown on Figure 2, Appendix A. Groundwater was not encountered in the
excavation.
The soil samples collected from beneath the dispensers were obtained by manually driving a clean brass
tube into freshly exposed areas of the excavation. The ends° of the soil filled sample tube were
immediately covered with Teflon© sheeting, closed with plastic end caps, labeled, and placed in a cooler
chilled with ice. The soil samples were delivered under chain-of custody protocol to Argon Laboratories
in Ceres, California for analyses.
n
i CONDOR
i
