JAMES GIOTTININI
PAGE 2
Argonne and Picardy
The next phase of assessment field work proposed for this site is postponed until
better weather conditions. The City of Stockton is ready to begin the work as soon as
conditions allow.
1740 Houston Avenue
The three monitoring wells installed at the site have shown nondetect results with the
exception of the initial detections in the monitoring well MW#3. As this well is located
near to and relatively downgradient of the source area (soil contamination at and near
the dispenser area), it may be suitable for use as a verification well.
As soil contamination is documented at 11 feet below grade and groundwater is first
encountered at approximately 15 feet below grade, the need for source removal was
discussed. The City of Stockton will submit a workplan for source removal within 60
days. PHS/EHD will conduct a two week public participation by posting a notice of
findings at the site.
2500 Navy Drive
The tank tracking records for tanks #2, #3, #4, and #6 and the rinsate manifests still
need to be submitted to PHS/EHD to.complete the tank removals.
The horizontal and lateral extent of the
soil contamination evidenced during the
removal of tanks#2 and #3 requires investigation. In addition, due to the shallow
depth to water at the site, at least one monitoring well should be installed in the
verified downgradient direction.
i
The City of Stockton will follow up with contact with the Municipal'Utilities Department
and a workplan for the required assessment will be submitted within 60 days.
PHS/EHD will send a separate letter for each tank without documented soil
contamination at this facility indicating that underground tank requirements have been
met and no further response actions will be required. j
4010 East Main
A workplan to investigate the full extent of the remaining soil contamination at the site
is needed. The workplan shall be submitted by March 15, 1995.
134 South Sutter
The work shallinall as roceed originally g' y proposed. A permit will be issued for the work as
soon as a permit application, signed by the driller, is received by PHS/EHD. The data
to be generated from the proposed work will be used to evaluate if additional corrective
action is necessary or if the site warrants closure certification.
1211 Swain
PHS/EHD will issue a closure letter for the underground storage tank removed from I
this site upon receipt of documentation on the final disposition of the stockpiled soil at
the site.
Bianchi Road Pumping Station
The closure letter for this tank was mailed out on October 10, 1994. A copy of this
letter is attached.
t
