The damaged lead acid battery was packed in a non-
reactive bucket with proper labeling and date. All damaged lead acid batteries are packed in this
manner in order to prevent release of any lead or acid and to protect the handler and environment.
#62: We are in the process of completing the hazardous waste tank assessments for the 500 gallon Used Oil
Tank and the 250 gallon Used Antifreeze Tank. The preliminary assessments for both tanks have been
completed; however, the engineer noted several costly repairs that are necessary before the tanks can
receive their Title 22 certifications.
Before the assessments can be completed, both the waste oil and waste antifreeze tanks need the
following: to be anchored, secondary containment for the collection trough and pipe, secondary
containment for the transfer pump and transfer line, steel plugs to replace aged plastic plugs,
certifications for the overfill devices and gauge calibration, additional signage, and lastly, the tanks both
need to be grounded.
We are working steadily with Bagley Equipment Company to make all the necessary repairs in order to
obtain the Title 22 certifications for the tanks. The fabrication of the secondary containment pans is now
complete and the tank repairs are in progress. Once all repairs are completed, the tanks will be certified
by a professional engineer and copies of the complete assessments will be submitted for your review.
If you have any questions, please call me at 468-3066.
Sincerely,
KIMBRA ANDREWS
Management Analyst I
KA:sc
PAHHW\HHW Fac1lities\PHHWCF\5-16-08 Inspection.doc
HA 80005D
