Bridgeford Steet, Stockton, CA. The
evaluation included a review of as -built plans. interview with HHW Facility personnel, and calculations
of containment volume.
In accordance with California Code of Regulations (CCR), Title 22, Section 66264.175(b), containment
systems for the transfer, treatment, or storage of HHW shall be designed such that (1) the containment is
sufficiently impervious to contain leaks and spills: (2) the containment systems shall slope to enable
removal of liquids resulting from leaks, spill, or precipitation: and (3) the containment system shall have
sufficient volume to contain runoff from a 24-hour, 25 -year storm event plus 10% of the aggregate
volume of all containers or the volume of the largest container, whichever is greater.
As -built plans indicate containment sumps are constructed of epoxy -coated concrete and are, therefore,
considered impervious. The storage bays are each sloped to one corner to allow for liquids removal. The
storage bays are located in a covered structure and are not subject to runoff from precipitation. Therefore,
calculations of runoff from the 24-hour, 25 -year storm were not performed for this evaluation.
Results of the calculations are presented in the attached worksheet and indicate that the containment
sumps for all the storage bays meet ai d , e required containment volumes the facility.
Sincerely,
EBA ENGINEERING
Dale Solheim, P.E.
Principal Engineer
S.
