� 3 <br /> ff M <br /> Lit- Working To Restore Nature <br /> 1710 Main Street <br /> , A-L, 32 SPI 2: 1 1 <br /> Escalon, CA 95320 <br /> Phone (209) 838-3507 <br /> FAX (209) 838-3509 <br /> August 30, 1993 <br /> I <br /> Ms Mary Meays <br /> San Joaquin County Public Health Services <br /> Environmental Health Division <br /> P O Box 2009 <br /> Stockton, CA 95201 <br /> RE Site Code 1178, City of Stockton Police Facility, 22 East Market Street, Stockton, <br /> California <br /> Dear Ms Meays <br /> This letter report has been prepared on behalf of the City of Stockton (City) to summarize recent <br /> site activities for the above referenced site (Figure 1) At the request of San Joaquin County <br /> Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) groundwater <br /> monitoring/sampling of the site monitoring well (MW1) was conducted on August 9, 1993 <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> The subject property is occupied by a City of Stockton police station which accommodates three <br /> underground fuel storage tanks <br /> During precision testing at the facility (May 1988), leakage was detected from the product line <br /> of a 10,000 gallon unleaded tank Elevated levels of gasoline hydrocarbons were recorded in <br /> two of four soil samples collected June 9, 1988 from a trench located adjacent to the product <br /> lines Although individual testing of the tanks indicated that they were mathematically tight, a <br /> small hole was found in the unleaded product line in the area of highest contamination Based <br /> upon these leak indicators PHS/EHD required further investigation to assess the extent of <br /> contamination <br /> On October 19, 1989, a soil boring was drilled to a total depth of 55 feet below grade to <br /> determine the vertical extent of hydrocarbon impacted soils and to facilitate the installation of <br /> a groundwater monitoring well (MW1) The soil bonng/monitoring well was located as close <br /> as possible to the area of suspected soil contamination near the product line <br /> QRrLYRP'I'1QR48219i DRF <br />
