V IM <br /> ARRAMA <br /> Working to Restore Nature <br /> 1710 Main Street } �, I <br /> Escalon, CA 95320 L L ; 11 <br /> Phone (209)838-3507 <br /> FAX (209)838-3509 OCT 15 1992 <br /> ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH October 14, 1992 <br /> PERMIT/SERVICES <br /> Ms Mary Meays <br /> San Joaquin County Public Health Services <br /> Environmental Health Division <br /> P O Box 2009 <br /> Stockton, CA 95201 <br /> RE Site Code 1178, City of Stockton Police Facility, 22 East Market Street, <br /> Stockton, California <br /> Dear Ms Meays <br /> This letter report has been prepared on behalf of the City of Stockton (City) to summarize site <br /> activities during the third quarter of 1992 at the above referenced site (Figure 1) Site activities <br /> included excavation of hydrocarbon impacted soils near the vapor recovery and product lines, <br /> repair of the product line, soil pile characterization and confirmation sampling, and groundwater <br /> monitoring/sampling of the site monitoring well (MW1) <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> The subject property is occupied by a City of Stockton police station which accommodates three <br /> underground fuel storage tanks <br /> During precision testing at the facility (May 1988), leakage was detected from the product line <br /> of a 10,000 gallon unleaded tank Elevated levels of gasoline hydrocarbons were recorded in <br /> two of four soil samples (#2 and #3) collected June 9, 1988 from a trench located adjacent to <br /> the product lines (Figure 2) Total petroleum hydrocarbon concentrations ranging from non- <br /> detectable to 800 ppm were detected in the samples (Table 1) A small hole was found in the <br /> unleaded product line in the area of highest contamination Individual testing of the tanks at this <br /> site had indicated that they were mathematically tight It is our understanding that the unleaded <br /> product line was repaired and the tanks were certified tight again upon retesting Based upon <br /> QRTLYRFr%QR090292 FNL <br />
