Box 2009 <br /> Stockton, CA 95201. <br /> RE: Site Code 1.178, City .of Stockton Police.Facility, 22 East Market Street, Stockton, <br /> California <br /> Dear Ms. Meays: <br /> This letter report has beein-prepared,on behalf of the City of.Stockton.(City)-to summarize recent- <br /> site activities for the above-referenced site..(Fig_ure 1). At :the request-of San Joaquin County <br /> Public Health. Services, Environmental --Health Division (PHS/EHD) groundwater <br /> monitoring/sampling of the site monitoring well. (MW1) was conducted'on August 9, 1993. <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> The subject property is occupied by a City of Stockton-police station which accommodates three <br /> -underground fuel storage tanks:` <br /> During precision testing.authe facility'(May 1988),.leakage was detected from the product line <br /> of a-10,000 gallon.'-unleaded tank. 'Elevated.levels`of.gasoline hydrocarbons were recorded in <br /> two-of four. soil sarnples.collected-June 9, 1988 from a.trench located adjacent to the product <br /> lines. Although individual'aestin&of the tanks.indicated that.they Were mathematically tight., a° <br /> small hole was found i'wthe unleaded product line in the area of highest contamination: Based.. <br /> upon these leak indicators PHSIEHD required further investigation to assess the extent. of' <br /> contamination. <br /> On October '1`9, 1989,_a. soil boring was drilled to .a total depth of.55 feet below grade to, <br /> determine the vertical extent of Hydrocarbonkirpacted soils and to facilitate-the installation of <br /> a-groundwater monitoring well =(MW1).
